My name is Stephanie Howse. I've worked with other people's writing for twenty years, and have earned both a Bachelors (University of Michigan, Ann Arbor) and a Masters (Oakland University, Rochester) in English Literature and Writing.
enso is the Japanese term for a simple circle drawn with a single brushstroke, representing a wealth of things—from the arc of eternity around the perfect meditative state to permanence, connection and enlightenment.
I've adopted this circular symbol because it expresses my ability and desire to help people bring their words and concepts full circle. The images on this website echo a variety of cultures, because one of my strongest beliefs is that brilliance is born in all languages, even if much of the academic world publishes in English. Properly written, error-free English is a challenge, even for native speakers. It can take a lifetime to master written English—lifetimes that are often not available because they've been spent rising in one's chosen field. No one with a novel idea or superior skills should be penalized for not having flawless written English, and I am honored that my editing skills so seamlessly complement the hard work and intelligence of academics and professionals from all over the world.
